This Alstyle shirt is made in Mexico. The Design features Canadian Soldiers with Maple Leafs on their hearts. The soldiers are depicted in the resting on arms stance (leaning on a weapon held upside down with a bowed head). This stance has been a mark of respect for the dead and variations of the stance have been around and used since the sixteenth century. The Maple Leaf in the center of the piece highlights Canadian conflicts from the War of 1812 to present day, Operation UNIFIER in the Ukraine and the conflict in Mali. We wanted to represent Canada’s historic achievements in the Boer War, WWI, WWII, and the Korean War, while paying a special tribute to Canada’s participation in all the U.N. Peacekeeping Missions: Cyprus, Rwanda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to name a few. The back of the shirt showcases Lieutenant Colonel John McCrea’s famous war memorial poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ which was the inspiration as to why we always wear a poppy in Canada on Remembrance Day. Because of his poem, the Poppy became the International flower of remembrance. This Alstyle shirt is 90% cotton and 10% polyester and is only available in athletic grey and at present only in a Unisex size. (Ladies usually drop one size to acquire the perfect fit).
